UFX - Total Mix MIDI command string

Hi,
I'd like to use the limited MIDI capability of my old 01V to control Total Mix.
The faders are controlling the TM faders as expected.
But the note commands do nothing.
Yes, I have enabled the control option... and I've tried various searches of the forum for further help - but no luck, which suggests I'm getting the MIDI instructions wrong somehow.

Here are a couple of examples:
The data I've set up to trigger Dim is:
B0 5D [SW] [END] (with the switch function set to latch)
To solo channel 1:
B0 08 [SW] [END] (with the switch function set to latch)

The 01V is linked to the UFX through Midi1 (the receive indicator lights up for all commands)
The UFX has the latest firmware, drivers etc
My MacBook Pro is connected to the UFX via firewire.

Any help much appreciated!
