Wow! After some more googling I finally got it fixed, by following cascag's instructions here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23504481#23504481

So, I basically installed the /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 over the one in Mavericks. I guess this is the only way until Apple releases an update to Mavericks.

I upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks last night. I also installed the latest 3.07 driver. However, when I boot my computer, the HDSPe Settings task will go unresponsive (in Activity Monitor it's "Not Responding") and take 100% of CPU. My Digiface will never initialize (the Host LED stays on). I have a 17" mid-2010 MacBook Pro with an HDSPe ExpressCard and a Digiface.

After some googling I found this, which might be related to this problem: http://www.zdnet.com/mavericks-issues-r … 000022732/

FYI!
