Could RME create a patch for this?

I've just published v0.9.0 which should fully resolve any issues with the app no longer responding when your PC comes out of sleep mode. Furthermore I've added experimental ARM64 support. If anyone has a Windows on ARM PC and can test this out for me, that would be great.

Works very intermittently in my case. Does not like fader groups either. I have had partial success with it, and like what it does. It has potential. (Testing was done with no other audio soft running)

Can you clarify what you mean by intermittently? Does it disconnect from your device? I don't use fader groups personally, the app simply controls master volume, it has no visibility of such grouping.

I've looked at this and the reason is that Volume2 registers volume down (VK_VOLUME_DOWN) and mute (VK_VOLUME_MUTE). On Windows, only a single application can register a particular global hotkey at once.

That's very unusual, in my case my config file is in "C:\Users\Fots\AppData\Roaming\TotalMix Volume Control\config.toml" and the app picks it up correctly.

This is exactly how the app determines the path:

You should be able to confirm the path by going to %APPDATA% and then creating "TotalMix Volume Control" and a file called config.toml in there.

All you need to add to your config is the following;

show_remote_volume_changes = true

Just confirmed this works as expected.

As a little side note, I have been working on rewriting this application in Rust using the native Win32 SDK and Direct2D but it will largely work the same, just be a bit lighter and a much smaller download.

What makes this feature so stupid and useless is that the blocking causes other, misleading error messages, and is not signalled anywhere at all. You later find the reason through the list of blocked accesses...if you ever find this feature...

Configuration File Error

Both the folder and config file are definitely there..

Also, it does not behave with other software for volume control. I use Volume2, which lets me control volume with win+mousewheel, a really killer feature (and also switch devices real fast, as well as controlling multiple devices and OSD. If Volume2 (https://irzyxa.blogspot.com) is open it says that it is unable to map the hotkeys. It makes no sense, as both could live side by side without issues, only the change volume message should be intercepted, as I see it.

I have thought about it and decided not do this. The application is less than 50 MB to download which is much smaller than a lot of popular apps (e.g. TIDAL is 200 MB for a music player). Embedding the runtime also makes it very easy for me to update to new .NET versions without imposing a manual step on users. At some point in the future, my intention is still to rewrite the application in Rust. I have already been experimenting with many approaches to do this (directly using Win32 Direct2D and using egui with OpenGL). Rewriting in Rust will give many advantages and will make the download much smaller too as there won't be a runtime bundled. However, this probably is still a while off.

Thanks a lot, it's not really a team, it's just me actually There is no current way to control anything other than master volume and dim which is the primary purpose of this application. You may wish to check out Nix at https://www.bsound.co.nz/tools-nix which provides the ability to map a lot more things.

This is actually supported already in the "interface" section of the config which you can see in the sample config at https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-vol … ample.json and you can read about configuring the app with this file in the README at https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-vol … README.md.

And onto the original reason I popped back to this topic. I am currently preparing the next major release of the app. I have already implemented the ability to increment volume in dB if one desires, which you can try out in the preview build at https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-vol … 3009830304. Please be advised I've switched back to TOML and changed a few minor aspects of the config file so be sure to cross-check and update your config.

One of the main issues I want to tackle for the next release is the report of disconnects by some people (e.g. https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-vol … issues/5). I have experienced this on rare occassions and think I know what the root cause is, but I will need a little help to verify my findings, so if you're experiencing this problem, please chime in! I will be producing a build with some extra logging for those affected to help me get the issue sorted for once and for all.

Edit: If you are encountering any disconnects, please install the Debug build from https://github.com/fgimian/totalmix-vol … 3020914756 The log can be found at %AppData%\TotalMix Volume Control (you may type that location into Windows Explorer to get there). Kindly paste the contents of the log here if you encounter the issue while running this build of the app so we can get this fixed!
