Super strange.

Maybe I got a brand new Echo Express SE I dud...

So I've now fixed the drop-out issue. I plugged the tb2 cable from the echo express iii chassis to the back of my Cinema Display's tb2 port and the madi fx is now stable on my Tahoe system.

Works for now but I still don't really understand what went wrong with the SE I.

Works for us with the HDSPe MADI FX. We use two Sonnet Echo Expres SE I on different Win and Mac systems.

Through much headache I finally got a working version of this card.

Turns out the brand new Sonnet Echo Express SE I chassis is not compatible with this card. I tried different power supplies, different tb 3/4/5 cables. Nothing worked.

Got my hands on a sonnet echo express iii rackmount chassis that now works with tb2 to tb3 adapter. It's completely stable with the 1.34 driver on my Ventura MacBook. Assuming this chassis is supplying the right amount of power?

I updated my main system to Tahoe (regretfully). DK driver installed and no luck with the madi fx. So I uninstalled DK, installed 1.34 and still nothing. Then super weirdly, I plugged the chassis tb into my owc tb dock and boom, madi fx is now working.

But... Now I got the card disconnecting and reconnecting every 3 minutes or so. I have no idea what this means. I read somewhere that having multiple monitors can interfere? Currently I only have one Cinema Display tb2-tb3 connected to the dock as well. Usually I have 2 of these displays up and running.

Good thing 1.34 works on Tahoe but now I just need to figure out these drop outs...

Any help appreciated!

The point is that the FUT will only work if the card is correctly installed with drivers. You installed drivers, but they never worked, otherwise the FUT would open. So you need to first install the drivers correctly so that you can play audio over the HDSPe MADI FX card, and TotalMix opens.

When your tried 13.6.9 on Intel you most probably overlooked some 'allowance' switch. Driver 1.34 readme: Before reboot check that in Security & Privacy, tab general, the RME driver is allowed to load. If not unlock the settings and allow it. Then reboot computer.

When I have to allow the block in privacy settings after installing the driver, do I have to install - restart - then allow?

I've read through this entire thread and still lost on what to do when the flash update tool wont open.

My main system is MacBook m2 os14.4. Understood I need to use a kernel driver to update the HDSPE Madi FX cards firmware...
I've tried on my older os13.6.9 intel macbook. No luck getting the update tool to open.

I got a brand new echo express se 1 thunderbolt 3 chassis. My computers see the chassis but I cannot figure out how to get this card to show up. I've uninstalled and installed so many versions of the kernel drivers, every one I could find, and the update tool still just immediately disappears when opened.

Do I need an even older system for these kernel drivers to work? I just need to update this firmware so I can get the new DK driver to work.

Going a bit mad, any help would be great!

Thank you very much for this update of the drivers for our old Interfaces!
I know I am late to this thread, but I want it to be known:
My Multiface I works on my Mac mini M4!
Flawlessly for now, with 44100 and a buffer of 64 samples in an aggregated device with an iPhone.
Gigperformer runs without a hiccup with quite some softsynths loaded.
I am chuffed! Mostly I write this, because I found nobody else who tried this. Let it be known: Multiface works fine on Mac Silicon over thunderbird 3. I expect all the other HDSPe cards will too.

How?
I used an external thunderbird 3 NVME enclosure, put in a PCIE converter and stuck my HDSPe PCI in there.
I had to power the NVME to PCIe converter, but did not need to power the Multiface.

Again: Thank you for keeping my multiface going!

The current Windows FUT includes a switch to 'downgrade' to v91.

1.32 seems to be the first one that's DK firmware compatible, but also requires OS11. So it seems you are a bit stuck and may indeed need to downgrade the firmware, if I'm not overlooking something.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to install the v1.34 driver, the Mac is on OSX 10.14.6 (Mojave) and installing the v1.34 driver requires at least OSX 11 or later.

Is there another solution?

I was wondering if re-flashing the card (which is currently on Version 92. DriverKit comp.) to 91. Legacy could solve the problem?

I tested the card on a Windows system, and on Windows it works. I could see that it now has a Driver date: 10/18/2024 Version: 2.26

Apple's OS version numbers/names are a mess. You have 10.14.6 (Mojave). As clearly stated in the readme the HDSPe DriverKit driver requires macOS 12 (Monterey). So 1.13 will not work. You have to use a Kernel Extension driver, which understands the DK driver firmware. I assume that you had flashed the DK firmware 92, which then caused the card to no longer work with driver 1.28

A compatible driver is Kernel Extension driver v1.34. Please install that one:

The tool I used to update the firmware is the HDSPe FX Flash Update V.1.35
The HDSPe MADI FX card is at version Rev 1.2
The Mac Pro is a Mac 5.1 from mid 2012 with two 2 x 3.46 GHz 6 Core Intel Xeon processors and with 128 GB of memory
The last driver i installed is the HDSPe dk 113
HDSPe FX Settings installed at version 1.28
Totalmix installed at version 1.64
