Thanks for the link to the HLP, looks interesting.
However, RME has made a massive step forward since 2 years ago (Room EQ, new "FS" hardware). I have now successfully implemented the 4 way crossover of a Linkwitz LX521 loudspeaker plus Room EQ filters in TotalMix and am extremely happy with the result. Yes, it includes a Hardware-8 channel-ADAT-Loopback because for some channels I needed more filters (see my wishlist below;-). And DSP capacity is also used up to about 70%, but it's possible and I also love that you can compensate for gain differences between the drivers in the analog domain (being able to switch the analog gain for every channel pair is a great feature!).

If I had one wish, I would still vote for full flexibility of the three "Power"-filters in Room EQ, so that I can e.g. do three low shelfs instead of being limited to one.
And if I had another wish, I would wish the same for the normal EQ section.

I tried to make a 4 way XO in Totalmix 2 years ago and never had a proper result.

I used to run it on the same machine MBP M1pro using:

Now, I've moved it to an old Mac mini M1 with a very fast TB interface but it comes back in Totalmix (ADAT IN/OUT) where I added some room EQ and I use the ARC USB for my volume. I run it at a buffer of 16 samples and the latency is negligible.
Use linear phase FIR or else you end up with latency.
It's all free but after 14 days, HLC is 130$ worth every cents.

Ok, I have to correct myself, a LR12 can indeed be done since the filters are minimum phase. A combination of the BW2 HP/LP (Q=0.7) with a Peak Filter (Q=0.6) at the crossover frequency does the trick to a precision of 0.2 dB - if anyone else is interested.

Thanks for the link, I was not aware that this was discussed before.
However, having read through both discussions, I have to comment on two things:
-I understand that TotalMix is not intended to be a crossover solution and that you have to do it manually using Loopbacks, addition of variable Q Low/Highpass filters etc. and I'm totally fine with that.
BUT: it would still be nice if there would be a possibility for a 1st order Butterworth filter BEYOND the "LC"-Feature. Why? Because this one is limited to 1. maximum frequency of 500 Hz and 2. highpass behavior.
Using the standard HP/LP of either the EQ or the RoomEQ section will not result in a proper LR12 crossover, because whatever I do, I will always have -3dB instead of -6dB at the cutoff frequency. One could try to compensate for that with a Peak filter, but this will be far from ideal and phase response would be messed up.

A "simple" solution from my understanding would be to activate the GAIN control for the HP/LP of EQ and RoomEQ and make it work the same way as for the LC-Feature (changing the filter slope to 6,12,... dB/Octave). This would not hurt anyones workflow as the gain control had anyhow no functionallity for HP/LP filters until now and it would be a VERY cool feature, making the whole thing even more flexible than it is now (and it's great already, don't get me wrong!).

Hi! There is a small bug in the .tmreq format: space is missing in the Band1Type. Band8 Type and Band9 Type both have spaces. TotalMixFX Version 1.991 (4). It is the same in the .tmws format too.

It would mean changing firmware in all RME interfaces that have effects... FX is not implemented in TM SW (except for partialy BabyFace), but in the hardware on units.

Found a workaround for the "too less shelving filter" topic, but still it would be nice.
Unfortunately I found another show stopper, which is that there is no option for Butterworth 1. Order. For Highpass below 500 Hz it's available with the "LC" functionality, but for higher frequencies or Lowpass behavior, I see no option.

I know that crossovers is not the intention of all these functions, but if you can "unlock" a whole new market with some simple adaptations, why not?

Any chance the delay parameter for room EQ can be tweaked to allow values greater than 42.5ms?

I'd need 46ms to time match my Dynaudio sub with my ex Machina loud speakers. Not that 42.5 doesnt get me in the ball park.

Do I have any chance, that instead of "Shelving" there will be the choice of "Low Shelf" or "High Shelf" for each of the three "free" filters? I desperately need 3 Low Shelf filters for one output channel and currently this is the "Game Over" for my intended pure Total Mix Crossover Setup for my 4 way active speakers...

Hello!

Could somebody please confirm if Room EQ on UCX II is available in standalone and in Class Compliant modes?

Can it be configured without TotalMix, using only the display on the device itself?

Thank you for clarification. Not the best news, especially that all-pass filters are not to be expected in RME devices, but at least I understand what I am getting into.
