See above, it depends... Contact Synthax US, who will examine the unit and tell you whether or not it needs to be sent to Germany.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I am located in the United States. Is there any facilities state side that is equipped to deal with my situation or does the unit have to sent to RME Germany?

It depends on the encoder's shaft state. If broken too then the encoder has to be exchanged, the unit has to be sent in.

The grey ch/lev knob on my Fireface UC broke off. Is it as simple as buying a replacement and popping a new one in? If so, does anyone have a part number so that I can order a new one off mouser or digikey? Or does the whole knob assembly have to be replaced? If so, does anyone know anywhere in the US that supports repair of this unit yet?
