Topic: FF880 with Aurora 8: which clock is "better"?
I use my FF800 for tracking live bands directly into Reaper/Macbook Pro i5 15" 6,2. Works great! I need more than 10 analog inouts, so I recently purchased the Lynx Aurora 8 and some more preamps. I use the ADAT option for audio I/O to the Aurora from the RME.
My question is: which unit should be clock master? If the RME is master, setting sample rate is easy and automatic from Reaper DAW setting. With the A8 as master, I'll have to manually set sample rate on the front panel, as the MBP is not connected to the A8 midi I/O, it uses ADAT to interface. Beyond the convenience issues, I am not sure who's clock is better (at least until I take it to work and test them both in my lab where I have SOTA precision measuring devices). Anyone else using this or a similar combo?
This will be moot in a month because I'm buying an Antelope clock when I get my tax refund...
