Topic: WinXP SP3 and installing HDSPe AIO Hammerfall PCIe

Hey everyone,

New to the forums.  Installed this card in a Dell R5500 under WinXP SP3.

Upon boot, I was prompted as it detected new hardware.  Under Device Manager, there were the following devices requiring drivers

- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Multimedia Audio Controller
- Unknown Device

I downloaded and extracted the drivers and the flash update tool.  I believe it was either or both the "Multimedia Audio Controller" and/or "Unknown device" that I followed and pointed to the where I extracted the drivers.

This was followed by reboot, then running the flash update tool which succeeded.  The system was completely shutdown at this point.  The system was then started up.

I am no longer prompted or notified that a new hardware has been found.  In the system tray, Hammerfall DSP Settings and Hammerfall DSP Mixer are shown.

Now to the question.....

Under Device Manager, there are four instances of "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".

How do I load the proper drivers?  Do I need them?  Do I disable them?

Help!

Please contact Dell. These devices are not related to the RME card.

They are mostly related to hdmi audio and can be disabled if unused.

Hey Daniel,

Thanks for the quick response.

Would having the onboard sound active with drivers have any affect/conflict with the RME card?

Thanks!

Hey Vincent,

Didn't see your post until now.

On Dell's website, the onboard sound for the R5500 is a "ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio".  I've disabled it in BIOS, but it shows up prompting me for drivers as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".

So I guess, disabling would be the way to go since I will be using mainly the RME card.  And I'll disable in BIOS as well.

Just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.
