Re: TotalMix FX for iPad app available in the Apple App Store

Good morning. I've downloaded Totalmix Remote, and in my opinion, it's not very practical in a commercial recording studio, where musicians come in to record for a few hours and then leave. Since it's practically a copy of TM FX, there are too many options that fill the iPad's small screen and that a musician will never use. In my opinion, there should be a simple version (volume, pan, mute, etc.) with faders that fill the entire screen and that can hide the Control Strip. This is just an opinion.

As paying customer I want the studio prepares a good headphone mix ready to work.
I don't want a remote control for monitor mix, not my job.
The CUE button in the hardware outputs helps the control-room man prepare a monitor mix.

I understand your point. But if personal monitoring systems have evolved so much in recent years, there must be a reason. In any case, if we have the option, we can always choose to use it or not.

You might have missed that you can reduce the musician's 'remote' to only the channels that you want him/her to control. And that separately for every musician via the 'Enable User management' option in TM FX Network settings. On the iPads you can also use a layout that hides any channel/submix other than what you want the musician to see.

Maybe a suggestion? You already have a low hanging fruit for that. Called OSC...

Via OSC you can decide yourself what to visualize/control on/via your iPad.

Download TouchOSC and load the included .tosc file example from https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/osc_ … ix_new.zip

Thanks for the support. I purchased TouchOSC but couldn't install the sample file. I searched for another one on the forum and installed it, but it only works in one direction. Although TouchOSC's graphics fill the entire iPad screen (which is appreciated), I think it's faster and more effective to configure Totalmix to select specific inputs and only make them visible.

Is RayDAT compatible with Totalmix Remote? When I get them to connect, the remote application abruptly closes Totalmix in Mac Studio. This message usually appears:
"TOTAL MIX REMOTE:
No UDP data received at all.
Please check firewall settings on host."

I have the firewall disabled in my Mac Studio.
I connected my iPad directly via USB to the Mac, and when I open Totalmix Remote on the iPad, it also closes the Mac application very quickly. It's impossible to sync.
I don't know what's happening anymore.

Then the settings in TM FX or TouchOSC are incorrect, for example port numbers do not match or are used already by something else.

Of course.

That is not supposed to work this way. The iPad will use WiFi, and that WiFi must be on the same network as the Mac computer. Plus must allow UDP. This might be blocked in your router, see its settings.

Also make sure the TM FX network settings (Server/Client) are really (!) identical/correct on computer's TM FX and the iPad's remote.

Re: TotalMix FX for iPad app available in the Apple App Store

I already mentioned this in the new TotalMix Beta thread, but it actually belongs here:
If we had the possibility to assign multiple Submixes to a single user in settings, we could have 1 iPad for the whole band and no need to switch users for different headphone submixes.

@waedi: While I agree that the customer pays for us doing the monitor-mixes, it‘s also our responsability to provide them with a solution should they choose to roll their own submixes.

Re: TotalMix FX for iPad app available in the Apple App Store

After a day and a half struggling with routers, configurations, and TouchOSC, I finally solved my problem. Now I feel a little silly, but I'm sharing it in case it helps others.
Simply authorize Totalmix to use the local network on your Mac:
Privacy and Security => Local Network => Enable Totalmix

On the other hand, iPads have a zoom option that's quite configurable. You can configure it so that Totalmix's faders fill the entire screen (losing a bit of resolution). But it's quite useful.
It also works perfectly without Wi-Fi, by connecting the iPad directly to the Mac with a USB cable.

Thanks to everyone who helped me.

Re: TotalMix FX for iPad app available in the Apple App Store

A dialog for the local network allowance comes automatically on first start of TM FX, from the OS, not us. You might have denied or overlooked that one - maybe long ago....

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post my message. Is there a TotalMix FX 2 app planned for iPadOS as well?

Thanks and best regards
