Topic: ASIO Direct Monitoring multiple monitor mixes
Hello. I'm not sure exactly how ASIO's direct monitoring protocol works, but would it be possible for input channels on submixes not being controlled by direct monitoring to be automatically muted when the submix being controlled by direct monitoring mutes said input channel(s)?
The context: ASIO Direct Monitoring works great for the main mix (the submix it is set to control), but if I want to create a separately balanced headphone mix (on its own submix) there is no mute automation on its inputs. If TotalMix could automate a chosen submix's mutes, while still allowing independent volume control through OSC to control that submix's volumes, that would be wonderful.
Alternatively, if ASIO Direct Monitoring controlled the global trims instead of a specific submix, I think it might be able to accomplish the same thing.
I do have a workaround, but it's cumbersome and error prone. For the channels I will record, I set up in one mute group all the channels on the submixes (monitor mixes) I want muted on playback. I have that mute group set to enable and disable via the F7 and F8 keyboard shortcuts. Then I have AutoHotKey set up to intercept keypresses so that when I press play in my sequencer, TotalMix enables the mute group. When I press stop, it disables the mute group. This way the monitor mix can still have its own balance and be automatically muted, like what ASIO Direct Monitoring provides.
