To be clear on that .. both SSD/OS on YOUR PC ?

Re: pcie firewire card windows 10

No, we've disconnected the first one with windows 7, and then we tried the other one with windows 10, just to see if the problem had anything to do with the OS.
Everything worked fine so far with both versions of windows.
Apparently the problem was with the previous ssd drive.
I should also say that all the ssd drives were Sandiscs. The first one with the problem was a Sandisc ultraII 480 and it was replaced with a second one of the same model.
The third one, was a small Sandisc 64gb, my friend brought for testing.
The first sandisc was replaced by a technician send to fix the problem, from the shop I bought the PC.
We tried every possible combination to find the issue.
The last thing he did, was to put windows 10 on another HDD, and test it.
We didn't have any issues for the 20 minutes we tested it.
He also told me that it would be better to disconnect the power cable for the EXSYS and power up my FF400 from its mains power supply and not from the pcie firewire card. This way, he said, we can avoid possible conflicts.
I don't know if this is true, but that's the way I use it now.

Re: pcie firewire card windows 10

The major player for SSDs is IMHO Samsung and I would have chosen a 850 Pro.

I also would regard an external power supply as the more stable solution and wonder why you ran it bus powered if you could connect a power supply.

Tip for next issues: you should mention things like this when describing your setup as some problems can also occurr based on a bad PC power supply.

Re: pcie firewire card windows 10

Hey everybody. After searching for a solution using my lovely Fireface 400 on my Skylake Windows 10 PC, reading this thread, and searching all over the internet for information, I decided to take the risk and install the following card:

http://www.delock.com/produkte/G_89213/ … anguage=en

I just wanted to report that the installation was totally straightforward. I just inserted the card on a free PCIe slot, connected the power supply, booted, and Windows recognised the card immediately. No driver installation necessary, I literally didn't need to touch anything.
Then I installed the latest Windows 10 Fireface drivers, connected it, and voila! Seems to function without any problems.

System:
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Intel Skylake 6700K
Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3
16GB RAM (2100)
Onboard Graphics
2 Sandisk Ultra II SSDs
2 Seagate HHDs

I don't know if it made a difference that the system was RME-Driver "virgin". I was working with an old M-Audio interface due to the lack of Firewire ports.

I tried to play some mp3s through VLC, no problem.
Youtube also plays without any problems.
Asio drivers with Cubase 9 also without any problems.

I will check it further any report in case something goes wrong.

For the time being I am happy that I can use my 400 on my desktop again!

Cheers

Will Sonnet Tango fw800/usb 3.0 pci-e work properly with RME UCX ?
Or not combo Sonnet Allegro fw800 will work better ?
