Topic: ADI-2 Pro Analog inputs TS or XLR 3rd-pin to ground?

I plan to use the unbalanced TS analog inputs to the ADI-Pro from the RCA outs on a Pioneer 909 Reel to reel deck. Does anyone know if this is preferential to using the 3rd-pin to ground RCA to XLR conversion cable? My other Reel machines have XLR balanced out, so this has not come up before.  According to the manual on Page 46, both are options, and I like the idea of being able to use high-quality RCA interconnects from the Pioneer.  Any advice, thoughts or experience would be welcome. I am new to this forum, thanks!

Quote from page 46 of the manual
The electronic input stage uses a servo-balanced design which handles unbalanced (TS jacks) and balanced
signals (TRS / XLR) correctly, automatically adjusting the level reference.

When using unbalanced cables with the XLR inputs, pin 3 of the XLR jack should be connected
to ground. Otherwis
e noise may occur, caused by the unconnected negative input of
the balanced input.

To use the inputs as unbalanced RCA: simply insert a standard TS male to RCA female
adapter. Now any RCA / Cinch cable can be easily used with the ADI-2 Pro.
