Topic: ADI-2 DAC USB Bit rate and Clock rate

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere on this board before.

I just received my ADI-2 DAC and installed the Windows Driver from the official RME site to my Surface Laptop (Windows 10)
I am not able to see the icon in the notification area anywhere after the installation was over (it's not in hidden mode).
I do however see the ADI-2 DAC's properties box when I right click on my windows loudspeaker icon.

My settings in the properties box are set to 2 Channel, 24 bit, 44100 Studio quality (the highest option).
The DAC state overview shows: USB Conn 44.1 / State 2/2

However my Amazon Ultra HD streaming software indicates following stats:

Track Quality: 24 Bit 96 kHz
Device Capability: 24 Bit 44.1 kHz
Playing at: 16 Bit 44.1 kHz
Am I missing a setup step somewhere in order for the Amazon stream to be played in its full quality at 24 Bit 96 kHz?

Thanks much for your time and help.

Re: ADI-2 DAC USB Bit rate and Clock rate

The icon needs a reboot to be shown. Amazon Ultra HD can not switch sample rates. Rumours say next version 7.11 might have Windows WDM  Exclusive mode support, then it might work.

Re: ADI-2 DAC USB Bit rate and Clock rate

Thanks for your quick reply Matthias. I managed to find the icon, I had my 'show all notification icons' turned off. Thanks

I am however still confused regarding amazon. When I playback an HD amazon file using just my laptop it shows me in the stats that it is resolving it as 24 bit 48 khz. After connecting the RME ADI-2 via USB the stats window now shows me 16 bit 44.1 khz.
My XDUO Dac shows a 24 bit 96 khz reading. Do you still consider the WDM mode support to be the issue? Is this exclusive to the ADI-2 DAC?

I have attached some screen shots to help clarify my findings

Re: ADI-2 DAC USB Bit rate and Clock rate

update:

After another reboot I was able to set the sampling rate to 96 khz and with that the bit rate to 24 bit.
Amazon now shows 24 bit / 96 khz in the playback window for the file posted above. I'm assuming the ADI -2 is now up-sampling any Windows USB sourced stream to those rates.

I'll be patient for Amazon hopefully to have the new update include switchable rate with exclusive modes.
