All, I am getting ready to rebuild and make a large jump forward in my home recording studio.  I am going to be moving from the Focusrite 2i4 Scarlett to the RME FF-UCX.  I am planing on using the firewire connection on my MacBook Pro.  So really, all I am looking for here is does this make sense.  The equipment:

MacBook Pro mid 2012 w/256 Samsung EVO860 Pro, 1tb recording drive, 16 gig memory.  I can run either Mojava or Catalina O/S.
Cubase Pro 10.5 recording software
Outboard PreAmps: dbx 376, dbx 586 and Presonus Eureka Channel Strip these will all be plugged into the TRS jacks on the back of the UCX.

Eventually, I plan to add another 8 channels of preamp over the ADAT connection.
