Topic: Babyface crackle burst for 1.8 seconds every 125 seconds

I have a Babyface that I want to use in Standalone mode as a mic pre amp.
I have connected the SPDIF Output to the SPDIF Input with a high quality TOSLINK cable.
(I've also tested a different TOSLINK cable.)
The Babyface is running latest firmware, checked today.
It's powered over USB from a 1 amp USB power supply.
The crackle is happening on the LINE-OUTs of the breakout cable.
This happens even if I have nothing connected to the inputs.
(If I do connect microphones to the inputs then I can hear them at the output, so the device is working, but with crackles.)
I've put pictures and an audio recording and video here:

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Clocks are not in sync. Who is master, who is slave? How did you set up the clock in the BF?

If I connect the Babyface to a PC and check the settings they are as below:

Buffer Size: 192 Samples
Errors 0/0
DSP [ ] EQ for Record
Optical Out: SPDIF
SPDIF In: [ ] TMS
WDM Devices: 6
Sample rate: 192000Hz
Clock source: Internal
Pitch 0%
Input status: SPDIF Sync 192kHz

The crackle doesn't happen when connected to a computer.

It only happens when I disconnect the Babyface to use in Standalone mode.

I've also switched to a 2A USB power supply but that hasn't helped.

So do we think it's faulty?
