Topic: Fireface 800 im Jahre 2020

Hey,

ich plane gerade mir ein gebrauchtes Fireface 800 zu kaufen. Meine Gründe dafür sind:

1. Gute Preamps
2. I/O
3. guter Preis (ca. 500€)

Natürlich ist das Fireface schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und mir stellt sich natürlich die Frage, ob ich nicht mit einem Interface, wie dem Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd gen besser bedient wäre. Hinzu kommt, dass mein PC keine firewire-Anschlüsse besitzt. Also müsste ich eine Firewire Karte einsetzten, was sich anscheinend - bezüglich der Wahl der richtigen Karte - garnicht so einfach gestaltet. Mein Pc hat einen intel I5 7th gen Prozessor, 16gb DDR4 Ram, eine GTX 1060 und ein MSI Z270 Mainboard und natürlich Windows 10. Sind bei meinem Setup Kompatibilitätsprobleme zu erwarten?
Also: Was würdet Ihr sagen: Lieber ein altes premium-Interface oder ein neues Consumer-interface?
Und außerdem: welche Firewire Karten könnt Ihr für windows 10 und das Fireface 800 empfehlen?

Maybe 500€ is a good price but not for this decision. 200-300€ would be a no brainer and worth the risks but at this price it is a difficult decision. But I would go RME for sure, maybe something with an usb port or PCI(e)?

thanks for your answer.
An Interface with Usb would be my preferred choice aswell, but the most affordable RME with usb is the Fireface UC which goes  for around 700 used (which is definetely above my budget). hmm  So i guess i have to settle for a cheaper alternative..

Do you have a PCI slot (not PCIe)? HDSP9652 or 9632 are very cheap second hand (I bought spares at 100). Also a second hand AIO or Raydat are an option. A cheap behringer ADA8200 to go with it and you have a good starter set, with rme quality drivers. Or babyface original with a behringer ADA8200 is certainly doable under 500.
The ADA8200 is not to bad, sounds nice and is very cheap. You can go esoteric later.
