Topic: 802 outputs 48v protection

Hi all,

Wondering about my rme 802. I intend to send my L+R master bus to its outputs so I can send them through Capi preamps, some eq, then compression before returning to the 802 for printing. If I accidentally hit 48v on the preamps will this ruin my 802’s outputs or worse? Just want to know how careful I need to be.

A short time feed of +48V is no problem for the analog outputs. A longer time of several hours and more might degrade the output capacitors, then cause sound changes until disfunction.
