Topic: Periodic crackles and clicks on ADI-2 DAC

Hey.
I have problem with some rare (1 in 1-3 min) crackles or clicks,
something reminiscent of the LP record or a scratched CD clicks.
These sounds appear periodically while listening to tracks and if you
scroll back to the place where the click was, then it will no longer be there.

I also noticed that these clicks are even when I don't listen to music at all.
That is, the sound on the PC is not played at all (complete silence),
but there are still rare clicks and crackles.

I set different Buffer Size latency values in the MADIface Settings (from min to max),
but I did not notice any changes.

I also have a Babyface Pro and there are no such problems at all.

Can anyone explain what the problem is here?

Thanks.

Isn't that already covered in the other thread that you just opened?

No. In the other thread I'm talking about USB3 issue, that you just explained to me.
This is another problem that I have on USB2.
As I understand it, there is a separate thread for each problem.

I also read other threads with a problem similar to mine,
but there is a slightly different problem as it seemed to me.
I have no shrieking noise, only some periodic crackles.

You checked the Settings dialog for USB errors? You checked your computer performance with Latency Mon?

The Babyface Pro driver uses a different transmisson method on USB, so it could show different performance if USB is not working as it should.

If you don't find the reason one way that usually works is to use the DAC without driver.

Re: Periodic crackles and clicks on ADI-2 DAC

You checked your computer performance with Latency Mon?

LatencyMon Conclusion: Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.

What is causing the 'Highest reported DPC'? That is shown directly in the main screen, above the bottom bar.

Re: Periodic crackles and clicks on ADI-2 DAC

The LatencyMon showed that the reason is in the Nvidia driver.
Did I understand correctly that if I have an Nvidia driver installed on my PC,
then I will have a crackles and I will not be able to use this device normally?

By the way Latency DPC Checker give me all green only.
I checked it several times, each for about half an hour.

I have Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 SUPER card in my PC and have no problems whatsoever with my ADI-2 PRO FS connected to the same PC.

Search this forum for nVidia. Lots of threads, plus some ideas how to solve it.
