Topic: ADI-2 as standalone DAC

I am using my ADI-2 DAC (the old AK4490 version) as a pure DAC. The reason for this is that I up-sample to DSD256 (ext3 + ec7v2 modulator) in HQPlayer, and I control volume from Roon (which in turn controls volume in HQPlayer). That way I only get DSP and volume changes in one place (Roon does no DSP).

Obviously, I use DirectDSD set to true, and a fixed volume of 0 on the ADI-2, but are there any other settings that are good to set for this scenario? Which ref voltage? The goal is of course maximum SQ, and I obviously don't want any DSP done in the DAC.

Re: ADI-2 as standalone DAC

There is no DSP in the DAC in that mode. The Ref Level is the one that suits your used amplifier. Just use what works best for setting the desired volume.
