Tap tempo restarts media auto-preview in media explorer

is there a setting that stops the auto-preview feature from time-stretching itself to match the project tempo?

also, if you change the bpm of the project while the media in the explorer is previewing, the media restarts.

This is problematic when trying to find the bpm of a song while using ASIO because ASIO takes all the computer's sound card resources.

Is there an even easier way to detect the tempo of a song with reaper? (human-controlled, not auto-beat detect.)

In the Reaper preferences Audio Device there is a Audio Midi Settings where you can mute all unused input and output channels, may be it gives your interface performance more room.
