Topic: 2 questions on parallel processing

Ok if I understood correctly:
1. If I had an AD/DA converter, let's say a ferrofish 16 with madi, I could use it to expand my inputs/outputs and/or to send / return signals processed with outboard gear. I think this is pretty straightforward and I could, say send a group of tracks (drum close-mics for example) through Madi out 1, process them in an outboard compressor and return as an input (say Madi in 1) of the AD/DA converter.

But what about

2. The loopback option in totalmix? Can I use madi outs and ins to accomplish this (by utilizing the onboard dynamics of my UFX III) without ever signal leaving the device?
And if yes, how?
This isn't for recording, I just want to spice up my monitoring mix...

Thanks

Re: 2 questions on parallel processing

Yes, the Ferrofish or M32-DA / AD gives you plenty analog connections for outboard gear.

Loopback in Totalmix provides signal to input channels in the DAW (it's not for monitoring).
For monitoring you just can use EQ und dynamics in Totalmix without Loopback or any settings.
Totalmix is a monitoring tool.
For recording, if you want the dynamics and EQ be in the recorded signal you have to enable it in the driver settings,
