Topic: 2 Digiface Dante's bricked - not recognized in Dante Controller Win11
Hi,
I have 2 new (as in a few months old) RME Digiface Dante interfaces. I'm using the latest and greatest drivers and firmware for both the Digiface's.
I've got my Neve 1073OPX going from the network expansion card Primary slot to the Primary 1 slot on the Digiface Dante. I have my Ferrofish A32Pro going from the Primary slot on it to the Primary 2 slot on the Digiface Dante.
I'm (primarily - more on that later) using Windows 11 Pro 23H2 OS Build 22631.4751. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz, 32 GB RAM. Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite WiFi motherboard. This is my main studio computer where I produce music.
The first Digiface Dante seemed to work fine for about two weeks. Then mysteriously, Dante Controller 'lost' the settings for it. After many cycles of uninstalling the RME USB drivers, updating Dante Controller to the latest version, swapping out USB cables, trying different USB ports, power cycling of devices, swapping of ethernet cables, swearing, etc. I was able to get Dante Controller to see the first Digiface Dante again and finally had sound....
...Until Dante Controller didn't. That initial loss of connection in Dante Controller lasted about a week of solid connectivity before once again, it mysteriously lost all of it's settings and refused to recognize that I owned a Digiface Dante. As I did before, I went through the swearing routine mentioned above. Mysteriously, after not being sure what song and dance I did brought it back to life, Dante Controller was seeing my Digiface Dante and associated devices once again. This time, I saved my configuration in case it broke again...
Sure enough! Dante Controller decided 'no bueno' yet again! #$%^!!!! I borrowed my friend's spare Digiface Dante to prove that it wasn't the device. I plugged that into power, USB and the ethernet cables as above. Dante Controller didn't see Digiface Dante número dos (AKA DD2). I went through my move things around/replace things/ample swearing routine as above. Updated the firmware for DD2. Whammo! Dante Controller saw it and allowed me to restore my previous settings...
...Until late last week after about a month of solid up-time, it decided it didn't like my pretty face anymore and lost the configuration and refuses to see DD1 or DD2.
In an effort to prove that it wasn't my Windows PC, I pulled out my 2019 MacBook Pro last gen Intel with MacOS Sonoma on it. I installed both Dante Controller and the RME drivers. Dante Controller refuses to recognize either DD1 or DD2. Interestingly, despite following the instructions regarding allowing RME in the Security Settings of MacOS, when I try to launch the Fireface settings app, it seems to crash... So that appears to be another issue.
I'm at my wits end here. I did come across this and wonder if it's affecting my Digiface Dante devices: https://www.techradar.com/computing/win … -is-coming Based upon the article, it does match with the issues I'm being faced with.
Can someone please help before I back over both of these things repeatedly with my car and then go at them with a baseball bat?
