Topic: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for macOS
Summer holidays are here – so is a first beta of our next generation TotalMix FX 2.0!
For a long time you asked for a TotalMix that supports free scaling, and we explained that the bitmap based TotalMix can not do so. The new TotalMix FX 2.0 uses the same graphics engine as DigiCheck NG*, thus is freely scalable from small to full screen, and even zooming into channels!
* TotalMix FX 2.0 uses Metal hardware-accelerated graphic routines, therefore usually requires macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or up.
Under the hood basically nothing changed, so this release is not (yet) about new features of the core functionality, but a fresh and more flexible visual representation for both mixer and matrix view.
Please note: TotalMix FX new render engine puts away with the former bitmap style, so the overall design changes!
But don’t worry – everything is still in the same place as before, and used the same way. You can even switch between the new and the old design any time. Or in other words: nothing should prevent you from trying v 2.0 beta 8!

The Details (taken from the included Help!)
Starting with version 2.0, the user interface is generally freely scalable. This means it adapts to the monitor resolution and allows for free adjustment of the size and scaling for zoom.
Free scalability contradicts with pixel-alligned drawing. Optimal display quality requires a certain pixel density of the monitor. Therefore, the previous design is still available in this version of TotalMix FX, especially for low-resolution monitors. When creating a new window, you can select the design. You can also switch between the two using the "Window/Toggle Old/New Design" menu. This setting is saved in newly created workspaces; for older workspaces, you can choose whether the old or new design should be used in Preferences.
Scaling and Zoom - Mixer
In the mixer, the size of the channels (height and width in a fixed ratio) normally follows the window height, with more space in a two-row mode. You can also zoom in using CMD+mouse wheel or a two-finger gesture. The program attempts to keep the mouse pointer in the center, but depending on the number of channels, the layout in 2-row mode, etc. this is not always possible. If the mixer becomes larger than the window (zoom in), a vertical scrollbar appears on the right. You can switch back to window-fitting scaling using the square button below this scrollbar. CMD+Shift with two fingers on the trackpad moves the position.
The sidebar on the right side (Control Strip) is scaled independently of the mixer and can be enlarged or reduced using CMD+mouse wheel or a two finger gesture.
Additionally, the "Window/Set Scale To" menu provides presets for fixed scaling that affect both the mixer and the sidebar.
Scaling and Zoom Matrix
The matrix display can be zoomed using CMD+mouse wheel or a two finger gesture, maintaining its position. The sidebar has its own scaling, which can be adjusted using CMD+mouse wheel. The square button in the bottom right triggers the matrix to adopt the sidebar scaling.
Room EQ
The Room EQ opens with the sidebar scaled, which in most cases is best adapted to the monitor resolution. When you enlarge the window with the mouse, the size of the control panel in the lower area is maintained; when you reduce it, it is scaled accordingly. There is no zoom function here.
Mouse Operation
Adjustable elements are highlighted in a lighter color when the mouse is hovering over them.
For stereo gain settings, the mouse controls both channels in the left and right areas, and only one channel at a time in the top and bottom areas. The currently selected channel is indicated by a lighter text color.
