Topic: Madiface XT ii vs UFX iii ad/da conversion and specifications

Hello,

I am a longtime UFX+ user and I am considering either a Madiface XT ii or a UFX iii. I am aware of the obvious differences as far as the connectivity, but I was just curious how these two interfaces compare in terms of their technical specifications (excluding the preamps, as I primarily use outboard preamps in my collection).

It seems like these two interfaces are roughly similar, designed with the latest conversion chips and boards, and both include the latest Steadyclock FS technology. Am I correct in this assumption? The specs differ slightly according to the RME website, but based on the approximate release dates of both of these units, I am assuming that they're comparable. I do see that the madiface xt ii has +24 input trs levels, which is nice.

Please educate me if I am off ! Thanks for your help,

Michael

You can make 1st observations according to my Excel here:

If you do not need 3 MADI buses, then the UFX III might be the better choice, as it offers DURec for backup recordings.
Also, the UFX III does not use breakout cables, as there is more room for connectors.

If you need 3 MADI busses also the HDSPe MADI FX PCIe card might be an excellent choice for you.
It has AES I/O so you can integrate nicely one of the RME reference converters for monitoring.

Hello Ramses,

Thanks for the response. I see that the excel has a section for Steady Clock FS. Isn't it the case that the madiface XT ii has this improved clocking? This may just be an error, but the RME website includes the steadyclock FS as a feature in the madiface xt ii.

Thanks again,

Michael

Thanks for this information. Indeed, it was a copy/paste error; I forgot to change it.

Corrected and prices for December:
