Topic: Digiface Dante on Win11 Pro - network settings lost on reboot
Hi, I am having a lot of trouble trying to get a Digiface Dante to work after several weeks and I am ready to abandon it.
After a lot of googling I was finally able to get the network settings so that Dante Controller could recognise the device. But next time I reboot windows, it has reset or changed all the network settings, and no longer sees the interface. I get the "Invalid Address Configuration" error if I set any other ethernet port, fair enough, but I cannot change this one in Networking Settings, windows is not giving me the option to select public or private network. I changed it to Private for the Dante network yesterday and that worked, but as soon as I reboot Windows just changes it back and won't let me change it again. So I can't use the one setting that I thought would help.
I don't know what has changed or what to do. Currently it is on logical port "Ethernet 3" (there is only one physical Ethernet port on this PC), when i got it working yesterday it was on a different one.
I recognised its IP4 address which told me which Ethernet port to use in Dante Controller, but the config is wrong.
I do not know what is wrong or how to fix it. Can anyone please advise? What do I check, what should I change?
There is a bigger problem - assuming I can find a way to get it working, next time I reboot the PC, it will all be different again and will stop working. That makes it non-viable for work, I don;t know if the device will function or not and I can't make it work if it doesn't. Can I look forward to this *every time I reboot*? I don't want to have to become a networking expert so I can fight with it every single time I restart the PC. Just to alter the port from Public to Private last time, I had to manually enter registry entries in a terminal window and go through all sorts of settings I didn't understand. So this happens with EVERY REBOOT?
What do i need to do to keep it stable? It is ridiculous that this expensive device is so hard to get working. Does it or the Ethernet port need to have a static address? Wouldn't changing the port to static cause problems for other devices, eg prevent me from accessing internet?
I don't know how to fix this or what is the problem. Please help!
