Topic: AVB Tool Multiple Inputs -> Phones Out?

Hello,

I am wondering if it it possible to route multiple inputs (like 1 AVB Stream and the inputs of analog 1+2) to the headphones out to e.g. be able to listen to a playback stream from the computer while also recording a synthesizer played live to it?

The manual doesnt really say it is or isnt or how.

Re: AVB Tool Multiple Inputs -> Phones Out?

yes of course.
Any output can have a mix of any input and software playback signals.
This is a fundamental skill of every RME audio interface (Totalmix is the tool)

The user manual does not explain explicite your situation, but it covers all features and the owner will find out quick how to work with it.

A short help :

In Totalmix
the bottom row of faders
scroll to the right end, there is one named PH, this is the headphone output.
Click on it or move the fader a little bit. The output channel is now selected for receiving signals from the upper faders the input signals and the software playback channels.

The top row faders are the input signals, your microphone or your keyboard.
Lift the fader of it after you did click the PH output.
Listen your signal in the headphone.
Play your background track in the computer.
Watch the middle row in Totalmix there should your playback signal appear.
Lift the fader and mix it to the other signals.

Don't forget to lift the fader of the PH output as well softly.

Click a desired output
and lift faders from above
thats the whole magic.

Re: AVB Tool Multiple Inputs -> Phones Out?

The AVB Tool is a standalone device, and does not have TotalMix or any mixer inside. If you use it along with a Digiface AVB or MADIface USB for instance, then you would have a DSP mixer to work with.
