Topic: help me presonus babyface pro fs

Hello everyone, I ask (if it can be done) to connect a Presonus 1824C with Babyface pro fs via optical cable to have more inputs and outputs
I tried but it doesn't work, put internal clock on Presonus and external on Bbyface.
I thank anyone who can help me

What exactly does not work? Please provide screenshots of Totalmix and the settings dialog.

The 1824c is an audio interface and not just an input expansion. Firstly have you set the bfp to adat and not spdif in fireface settings. Then you need to read up about the 1824c to see if it can work standalone as a channel expander.

The needed cabling

Babyface Pro FS [cm]---ADAT IN<------------ADAT OUT---Presonus 1824C [cs]

cm=clock master, BBF Pro FS (driver settings: clock source = internal)
cs=clock slave, Presonus (settings: clock source = ADAT IN)

It doesn't matter whether the Presonus supports standalone operation or not.
You can keep it connected via USB for operational reasons.

In the Audio Application (DAW, ...) simply load the RME driver, so that the BBF Pro FS is the main interface.

Would have been useful to know the whole setup (Windows machine or Apple).
Windows needs at least one WDM device for Windows sound and applications like Firefox without support for ASIO.

Yes it can be done to have more analog inputs and outputs, but not more channels.
Totalmix will not change and in the DAW only the Babyface inputs and outputs channels will be available.
The 8 Adat channels of the Babyface will be the I/O ports of the Presonus
Use Totalmix for monitoring the Presonus inputs and for sending audio to the Presonus outputs.
