Topic: hammerfall dsp multiface II switches between connected nd disconnected

So a few days ago i got given a hamerfall dsp multiface II from a friend that used to use the interface a few years ago and had it sitting in his storage. He told me that one day it just stopped working but he didn't really look into it because he upgraded to another interface. Now that I got it every time that i plug it in with the pcie card it switches between connected and disconnected like crazy, i got a new host cable and i also plugged in a power cable but there is no difference at all. What could cause the problem here? I installed the drivers succesfully so i don't really know whats wrong. Does somebody know what I should do? I wanna use this card since i think its better than my old scarlett 2i2.

Sounds like defective hardware.
I would send in for repair both the box and the PCI card.

Are you on Mac or Win ?
Where do you see this disconnecting flipping ?
In Windows the device manager shows the PCI card without error ?

all good i found the problem, the host port is damaged. If i hold the cable a certain way it stays connected and plays so i just have to take it to a technician to fix it.

Very good, should be no big deal to replace a 1394 socket.

The interface is great I had one and it is worth to keep alive.

If the FW400 port on either device has just loosened, meaning the "pointy" part of the metal wraparound has opened up a bit, a little squeeze with needle nose pliers is all you need.
