- MADI optical to get galvanic isolation
- At 192 kHz, the MADI bus offers 16 channels (due to channel multiplexing), which is sufficient for the 12 channels of the 12mic
BUT.. I think 192 kHz is completely unnecessary for recording.
This is maybe something for Capitol Studios if they want to archive their audio treasures for the next xxx years.
Single speed already gives you a quality that is beyond our hearing capability.
I know a professional studio owner who records everything at 48 kHz.
If you think that you need a little extra quality for whatever reason, then use double speed.
Another benefit is more room for additional additions, as you have 32 channels over MADI to connect, e.g., 12 mic and M-1620 Pro.
IMHO 192 kHz with only 16 channels is a major waste of channels and puts too much (unnecessary) stress to the computer.
You make it only much harder for your PC to process everything reliably in time, especially when using smaller buffers.
Everything has to process an audio bandwidth that is 4 times higher (DAW, every Plugin that you use, ...).
And of course, you need more RAM and storage.
