Topic: Firmware up-date

Greetings gentlemen. Have been absent from quite a while. Checked website for latest firmware update for my ADI-2Pro and I got
the following:

2026-02-18...................fut_madiface_win.zip

ADI-2 Pro series (6): FPGA 267, DSP 128
ADI-2 Pro series (7): FPGA 414, DSP 128

I figure the latest update must be the one with the (6) designation...but I wonder what is the meaning/purpose of the one with the (7) designation. A clarification would be most appreciated.

Cheers and all the best,
dr.larkos

Re: Firmware up-date

Look at the readme.

It‘s for the currently two different hardware revisions of ADI-2 Pro:

readme:

ADI-2 Pro Serie (Hw Rev 6): FPGA 267, DSP 128
ADI-2 Pro Serie (Hw Rev 7): FPGA 414, DSP 128

Welcome back.

Is the reason for your question that you want to know whether you need to upgrade the firmware?
In that case, the safest way to check whether a firmware update is available is to execute the most recent
fut-tool (Flash Update Tool) and to watch the "Programming status", whether it's "Up-to-date" or not.

You find the last recent version in the driver tab of the product page on the web server.
Please note: A prerequisite for the FUT tool to work is the installation of the MADIface driver.

Regarding your question, the two releases of ADI-2 Pro

I think you got this information from the README file in the fut-tool, but you shortened the text.
Otherwise you might have noted "HW Rev" in front of 6 and 7, which means "Hardware Revision".
ADI-2 Pro series (Hw Rev 6): FPGA 267, DSP 128
ADI-2 Pro series (Hw Rev 7): FPGA 414, DSP 128

From that, you can deduce that different "hardware releases" of this unit are meant.

Most likely this refers to
- ADI-2 Pro, the initial version without FS clock and which didn't have the auto-dark feature, released in 04/2016 and
- ADI-2 Pro FS, the updated version with FS clock and with the new auto-dark feature, released in 03/2018.
D/A converters, technical specs and other features (besides auto-dark) are the same.

The “Hw Rev #” is indeed not marked in the flash update download site’s text, only in the readme:

EDIT: changed URL for ADI-2 Pro, which leads to the same, unified file, valid for the whole ADI range and some others:
https://rme-audio.de/adi-2-pro-fs-be.html

This is for ADI-2 DAC:

No. As MC has told us before, the revision number here refers to the generation of the Spartan FPGA. The switch to the 7th generation occurred in ADI-2 Pro FS R BE around 2023. Mine (purchased in 2021) is still on generation 6 FPGA. No differences to available features between them.

Wrong link? This is about Pro, not DAC.
