Topic: Feature Request: Pan Meter

A pan meter similar to what WaveLab currently has would be highly appreciated.

The following link is screenshot from Wavelab,

The following description is from Wavelabs own manual,

Pan Meters
The lower part of the window shows the difference in level between the left and right channel of a stereo audio file.

The upper pan meters show the peak level difference between the channels. The level bars can go to the left or right, indicating which channel is loudest.

The lower pan meters show the average difference in loudness between the channels. This gives you a visual indication of whether a stereo recording is properly centered, for example.

If you are monitoring real-time audio (playback or input), the maximum balance difference values (peak and loudness) for each channel are displayed numerically to the left and right of the meter bars.

Thank you

For example, in Totalyser, R 128 Loudness Meter, Global Level Meter, and possibly others.

Try this DC NG Workspace

You have to adjust Input Selection and Settings in each of the instruments of the two DC NG windows.

Some screenshots to show the "pair difference":

The indicator range is configurable in each instruments settings.

Re: Feature Request: Pan Meter

Im aware of this but its lacking what makes the Wavelab version good,

- dB reference marks for left and right channel (6 5 4 3 2 1 0dB 1 2 3 4 5 6)

- live readout of peak channel and current difference (in dB) for both left and right channels

- live readout of average channel and current difference (in dB) for both left and right channels

I was not sure whether you overlooked the current implementation or whether you like this more verbose design more wink

I think it would not make sense to integrate it this way into existing instruments.
It looks more like RME would have to create a new DC NG instrument for this purpose.

Re: Feature Request: Pan Meter

That would be something like the Direction Meter in Samplitude/Sequoia, which I find quite practical.

Wavelabs implemention is far better as it gives db readouts in real-time.

Re: Feature Request: Pan Meter

Direction Meter could be combined with Pan Meter from Wavelab, the latter below.

I guess, that Direction Meter shows graphically history development in time. At least I would expect that as the size is large (tall). In that case it would be cool tool.

I expect the time goes vertically, but I may be totaly wrong...

A screenshot would be more helpful in this thread. As well as mentioning already in the first post that you know the DC implementation and just want more details.

Re: Feature Request: Pan Meter

to add to ramses post above,

the maximum readout is highly useful as well
