Topic: Remote loses connection

Good evening all

I swapped my UCX II for An UFX II on Mac.
I am having troubles with Remote on iPad. It loses connection and then, when I restart the app on iPad it says: UCX II connected - and switches to offline after a couple of seconds. There is no UCX II.

For some reason in network remote settings on the Mac I have two IP numbers.
On iPad I enter one of them, and it displays UFX correctly, but says: no access! And below (Found devices) it shows both UCX and UFX
With the other IP the same thing, but it shows no found devices.

Cache?

Tanks for support

Re: Remote loses connection

1) Connect to the Mac's primary network interface (IP) from your iPad (you can set the primary/order in macOS' system settings in network)

2) Regarding "no access!" -> Disable User management in network remote settings of TM.
Exactly this has been resolved yesterday here: https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 54#p251654
(I wonder how you could oversee it, as the title contains "no access"?)

Re: Remote loses connection

Thanks for support - and yes, disabling user management solves the problem.
But actually I did not overlook that other post. It's just – shouldn't it be possible to use the user management option for fellow musicians?

It is possible! As user management is exactly for the use case you mentioned...

Assuming you mean with "fellow musicians" that each one has its own TM Remote running...

- In TM built-in help, read this chapter: 8.2 Settings
- In TM Remote built-in help, read this chapter: 2. Quick Start (Network Remote Settings, User Authentication)

Re: Remote loses connection

Yes - thanks for reminding me

There is a contradiction that I do not understand:

In order to be able to have a connection from my iPad to total mix, I have to switch off the manager.
In order to be able to give access to total mix to my fellow musicians, I have to enable the manager.

Now what? What am I missing?

Re: Remote loses connection

The contradiction you do not understand "In order to be able to have a connection from my iPad to total mix, I have to switch off the manager." relies that in my 1st answer (post #2) there was no mention from you in #1 that you might want to limit access for fellow musicians...
Btw: still unclear if they should be limited or if they should have full rights...

However, user management is useful if you want granulize certain access rights for certain submixes for your fellow musicians.

If not, disable user management, and all will have access to all

If you want to split it, that only you should have "full" access, enable it and give "your user" full rights by ticking "Do" radio (=Do all)... and the others the respective limits...

Again, its all described in the built-in help, I mentioned in #4

You simply missed that you have to use a password per user, and the user has to use that password. Then User Management will work.
