Topic: Strange Scenario usage for ADI-2/4 PRO SE

Hi All,

i would like to use ADI-2/4 as stereo IN -> Quad Output using it as digital Xover dividing HI/LOW signals for bi-amp.
don't see any instruction in manual but suppose that is possible to assign different FIR for each OUT (1,2,3,4): someone could confirm? I'm also interested to behaviour for SDM (DSD) and possibility to use volume control on this.

this configuration would like to be fantastic for studio and hi-fi both.

Many thanks for you help/responses

Re: Strange Scenario usage for ADI-2/4 PRO SE

This is possible with ADI-2/4 Pro SE.

Look into the manual chapter 17.6 DAC (Mode).

This selectable configuration offers all you need, while beeing the most simplistic and user-friendly configuration, e.g. is fully IR-Remote controllable.

Additional to the 4 output’s individually tunable low-pass / high pass filters (plus additional parametric EQ options per output), you even get a full 5-band global EQ in the analog input section.
Output volumes can be coupled across all outputs.

This makes for a quite versatile two-way crossover.

For DSD, as inherent to this format, native digital processing (like EQ) isn’t possible.
ADI-2/4 Pro SE uses an DAC chip function to offer seamlessly integrated volume control.

Re: Strange Scenario usage for ADI-2/4 PRO SE

Thanks KaiS,

i'll see chapter. same also in DSD mode? I don't want to e reconverted in PCM wink
despite PEQ do you know if is possible to use FIR?

looking to manual (19.2)

Note: A DSD playback via USB is only supported on playback channels 1/2. A DSD64 playback
in mode Multichannel via USB 3/4 does not activate the DSD mode.
With DSD playback, the analog output level is identical to a PCM playback. However, DSD limits
Volume control to +2.5 dB, while PCM allows up to +6 dB.

this means that DAC mode cannot  be applied to DSD? I love this format to play purposes... sad

Thanks a lot again
A.

Re: Strange Scenario usage for ADI-2/4 PRO SE

DSD cannot be digitally processed in any way, that’s a general limitation of the format.

ADI-2/4 Pro SE can control the DSD output volume, because it’s DAC chips have this functionality built in, which ADI-2/4 uses only for DSD.

This happens in the transition between digital and analog, in a very special way.

That’s it, no digital x-over filters with DSD, nowhere, neither within ADI-2/4 nor in any other digital soft-/hardware.

If you want a 2-way crossover with DSD you need an analog device for that.

BTW: I don’t know what you’re referring to with “FIR” - which is the common abbreviation for Finite Impulse Response – a digital filter topology.
