Topic: Shure SM7B and TotalMix Issues, No longer working

I recently bought a Shure SM7B and I use an RME Babyface Pro that uses Totalmix FX as its software.
With gain 60-65+ and AN 1 on 0.0, these settings were working perfectly fine, I could hear my voice playback into my headphones nice and clearly. I could also see that very signal going up & down on the AN 1 - PH 3/4 mixers. I even streamed to twitch through OBS perfectly fine using these settings but after about two weeks, for whatever reason all that I get from my headphones is static/white noise and absolutely no input from my microphone. I can’t hear myself, OBS doesn’t pick up any signal and neither does any other app. I’ve reinstalled and updated every RME/totalmix driver, checked microphone permission settings on windows, changed XLR cables as well as swapped the XLR into input 2 on the RME baby face pro and tried AN 2 on totalmix but yet I only hear white noise and no signal from my microphone.
I tried a different XLR mic and it’s the same issue too.
Although when I give a hard tap on the front of the Shure mic I do see an extremely tiny bump in signal volume but that’s as far as it gets.
How can it all work perfectly fine for a week of having it to not at all the next? The RME babyface and totalmix still work perfectly fine for just using my headphones to listen to music/youtube, it’s just the XLR input for my microphone doesn’t work at all suddenly.
Only white noise (when the gain is turned up to what I had it on for the Shure mic)

Does anyone know how to fix this?

For sure phantom power is OFF ?

From what you explain, I think the mic is broken.

Edit:
You did try a different mic and the issues are the same...
Then it looks like the interface unit has a damage.

I would try reflash the firmware for a test, if this not helps send in the unit for repair.

Doesn't matter for this dynamic mic.

I don't think so as he told: "I tried a different XLR mic and it’s the same issue too."

Yes maybe to check basic operation of the device. But flashing the FPGA and correct operation of the analog input stage, mic preamp and the electronic parts behind it are two different things...
Regarding basic operation: Otherwise everything is working, playback of music, etc?

For me it sounds as if something in the Babyface Pro is broken, possibly the mic input.

Perhaps a few more tests before sending the unit back to the seller for replacement (if its brand new) or to service.

Although loopback recording excludes A/D conversion and thus the mic preamp, just a little test on the digital part of
the input path: Does loopback recording work if you playback music, route it to AN1+2 OUT, enable loopback there.
Can you record this loopback audio on AN1+2 IN using your DAW?

What I would try as a last thing, if nobody or RME has a different idea,
I would perform a total reset of TM FX
1. Deactivate phantom power if it is not needed
2. Save your current workspace, so that you can come back to this state at any time, no matter what you are testing
3. Then: Options -> Reset -> Total Reset
4. build up the recording chain again from scratch
    - after plugging the mic carefully raise the mic gain to 60-65 (as you told) on Mic In 1 + 2
5. Do you see higher metering activity than before?
6. Route mic input signal to phones output, carefully increase the volume, the same noise as before?
7. optional: does loopback recording work after total reset?

If the two mics still do not work ony any mic input (1 or 2) then I think that your BBF Pro needs service.
As you just bought the BBF Pro FS your 1st service/repair contact should be the seller.
In parallel I would recommend you to contact RME support directly via e-mail; that's the more formal way.
I would add the URL to this forum thread.

@RME: What do you think, Daniel?

Have you tried a line level input?
Disconnect the microphone, what is the input level shown with the gain all the way up and down?
