Topic: Width behavior

Hello,

Can someone explain how the widht knob works ?
Usually, width knobs add more width by boosting the sides, so when I saw it was on 1, I turned it to zero in ordre to have the sound as "normal" as possible, but then it sounded mono. The "-1" settings seems to be the same as "+1"

I thinks this knob is not intended to add width but only to remove it by setting at zero, so the "+1" setting is the "normal" setting, but I'd like to have a confirmation please.

By the way, I didn't find the manual and clicking on Help>Total Mix FX Help don't do anything, so sorry if this question is basic.

Re: Width behavior

minus 1  switches left / right and is fully stereo, plus 1 is fully normal stereo

zero is mono

The width knob in Totalmix does not boost the stereo image. It can narrow to mono or open fully to normal stereo.

User manual BabyfaceProFS page 45 :

Width. Setting the stereo width. 1.00 equals full stereo, 0.00 mono, -1.00
swapped channels.

Re: Width behavior

Thanks for the answer smile

I didn't find the Total mix manual, but I should think about the Babyface one ^^

Re: Width behavior

Every user manual of any RME interface has Totalmix total-user-manual inside

Re: Width behavior

The TotalMix FX manual is included in the manual for every RME recording interface, as it contains hardware-specific features.
TotalMix FX also includes a help function.
