Topic: Preventing over-volume
Is there a method of limiting maximum output in Totalmix? There is the Drawmer SP2120 but it is pricey for what it is.

The natural limit is 0 dBFS digital full scale, but that is not a fixed analog level, it depends on the output level reference. Totalmix has no control over analog levels post conversion and there are no absolute levels. While dynamic effects exist in Totalmix, they only control and limit digital levels. If something like this speaker protection device is required, I would suggest to do that in the analog domain and based on actual acoustic signal level.
Use switchable attenuators in the analog domain

Thanks to you both, I'll take a read. I have to take opiates for a permanent injury and it clouds the thinking. I came out of Cubase to listen to a sample I downloaded and needed to hike the volume as it was very quiet. Cloudy thinking thanks to dihydrocodeine and I started the DAW transport and blew a tweeter in my Amphions. They are, fortunately, replaceable by the end-user at a fraction of the cost of the Drawmer unit but it sits uncomfortably that I might do it again.
Besides the attenuators you may need a cold-turkey, there is life after.
