Quick Version Overview

TMKeyControl was the successor to TotalKeyMix 1.6.3 and 1.6.4.3 (the improved “ramses version”). To avoid any confusion and to provide a clean foundation for further development, I decided to completely rewrite it.
Please note:This older version is now deprecated. You should only use it if you still need TotalMix FX v2.0.

Starting with version 2.0, TMKeyControl is a complete rewrite using AutoHotkey (AHK) v2 and Global OSC, which requires TotalMix FX 2.1 Beta 6 or later.

The move from AHK v1 to v2 was necessary because AHK v1 has not been supported for quite some time. Global OSC is, in my view, the future. It makes it much easier and more convenient to access the relevant functions directly and to receive feedback from TotalMix FX, compared to the old method based on Bank Switching.

The basic idea has remained the same: frequently used TotalMix FX functions should be directly accessible via freely configurable keyboard shortcuts, without having to bring the TotalMix FX window to the foreground.

Version 2.0.0(34) was essentially the complete rewrite of the code, together with a redesigned Volume Bar and new diagnostic tools such as the OSC Monitor and OSC Hex Dump.

The latest Version is 2.1.1(132) with a lot of new features, see below.

TMKeyControl 2.1.1(132) - New since 2.1.1(102)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OSD cube
* Control of 7 output levels in all (Main Out, Volume B, C-G).
* Volumes of a second interface switched on later are detected automatically.
* Volumes C-G can be collapsed and expanded by menu, hotkey or the triangle on the cube.
* The scaling of the cube (window and content) is now exact to the pixel.
* Moving the cube with the arrow buttons (setup) is exact to the pixel.
When held, it speeds up after a while.
Holding the Shift key in addition moves it faster, by 10 px.
* Time saver: an option in the setup makes changes of position and size (scaling)
of the cube apply to all 6 Display Styles (1-6).
* Display Styles 7-8, centred display, Volume C-G collapsible.
* Display Style 9 in three variants because of long names for "Main Out":
9a two lines, 9b smaller font, 9c wider column.
Without Volume C-G, levels aligned below each other.
* Cube hamburger menu, now also with: Collapse/Expand Volumes, Resource Monitor,
Query TotalMix FX State, Cube Always in Front, Restart.
* Position, default: bottom right above the taskbar, the last position is saved.
* Resetting: Restore Application Defaults, Restore User Defaults.

Levels
* Cube and Volume Bar: volume adjustable up to +6 dB (formerly 0 dB max),
red above 0 dB. Matching the control with TotalMix FX and ARC USB.
* Intelligent volume control by keyboard and mouse (Volume Bar, cube):
stop at 0 dB, continuing with a 2nd quick key press or mouse movement.
While the keys are held down, the volume stays at 0 dB.

Hotkeys and settings
* 2 new hotkeys: Collapse and Expand Volumes - 36 functions in all.
* Setup window widened to make longer hotkeys fully readable.
* Setup opens the tab that was used last.
* Tab General, various functions can be switched off: collapsing/expanding,
triangles, queries to a second interface (DURec and volume state).
* Tab General now has user defaults of its own.
* Your own settings (config.user.ini): contains only deviations, which allows new
default values to be recognised. Application defaults are in config.ini.
* Higher acceleration when moving the cube with the arrows (setup).
* Settings of 2.1.1(102) are taken over at the first start.

Tools
* Resource Monitor: CPU, memory, GPU and OSC traffic per UDP port and in total:
per second/minute from Start to Stop, max packets/s, totals.
* Diagnostic windows have packet filters to hide regular queries
(DURec, volumes on a second interface), with a count of the ignored datagrams.
* Various bug fixes (port change in the setup, tray tooltip, saving a log,
time stamps and others).

* Further modules, duplicates merged into functions.
* Code no longer needed removed.

Adapting to Your Interface Setup

The software ships with the settings of my own setup: an HDSPe MADI FX as the main interface and a UFX III as the DURec recorder.

In most cases, there will be only one RME interface, possibly with DURec support. To adapt TMKeyControl and TotalMix FX to your setup, the following changes are needed:

TMKeyControl - Setup:

Tab "OSD - Cube": configure the sources of Volume B-D for your interface and your monitoring ports.

Tab "Global OSC": if you have no separate interface for DURec recording, set "Port to DURec interface" and "Port from DURec interface" (7002/9002) to 0.
If your interface supports DURec, DURec control then runs over the same ports 7001/9001.

TotalMix FX:

With only one interface, enable OSC for that one interface only: Options → Enable OSC Control,
plus the OSC settings under Options → Mixer Settings (F3), tab "OSC".

TMKeyControl 2.1.1(102) - New since 2.0.0(34)

OSD cube
* OSD "cube": permanent display of the TotalMix FX Control Room state (gadget-like).
* Besides the volume of Main Out and Main Out B, the cube also shows the port names
and the state of: DIM, Mono, Speaker B, Mute, Talkback, External In, Loopback,
Phase L/R, EQ, Low Cut, Dynamics, Auto Level, Echo, Reverb, Mute FX, RoomEQ,
Crossfeed and its level.
* The cube shows the DURec transport (REC red, PLAY green, PAUSE yellow) and which
of the snapshots (1-8) is selected. On changes, the number is shown in italics.
* Volume B to D: up to three further output levels, e.g. for headphones.
* Muted outputs are shown dimmed.
* Configurable level from which a warning is to be given in "red".

Cube operation
* Cube window movable with the mouse when not pinned (pin symbol).
* Pin: fixes the cube; levels M, B-D can then be changed by mouse drag,
with the Shift key held down in fine 0.1 dB steps.
* Lock: the "open" position allows the TotalMix FX Control Room and DURec
to be controlled from the cube.
* Hamburger menu with new functions: setup, Display Styles, reset and restore
the size.
* Always in Front can be switched in the hamburger and tray menu.

Cube look
* Nine Display Styles: one configurable by the user, five predefined cubes,
two in line format at the top or bottom edge, one narrow column at the right edge.
* The individual elements can be set in many respects in the setup tab
"OSD - Cube Layout": show/hide, collapsible, position, alignment, distance
from the border, font size.
* Size 30-200 % per Display Style: slider or -/+ in 1 % steps, live preview,
previous size restorable, top right corner stays.
* Position: arrow buttons for fine work (with the Shift key held down = 10 px),
faster when held; saved per Display Style, always within the work area.
* Colours for text, dimmed text, background: colour dialogue with matching custom
colours, "Default" or "guided random"; opacity 20-100 %, optionally with
rounded corners.

Hotkeys and Volume Bar
* 12 new hotkeys: Mute FX, RoomEQ, Crossfeed, Phase L, Phase R, Loopback, EQ, Low Cut,
Dynamics, Auto Level, Echo, Reverb - 34 functions in all.
* Every hotkey can be switched off without losing its key; "All on / off" per column.
* Crossfeed switches off and back on to the level set before.
* DURec state is queried and shown live, for the main or also a second interface.
* Volume Bar and cube can be switched on and off independently (bar off by default).
* Volume Bar shows the level reported by TotalMix FX, DIM included

Setup and settings
* Setup with 7 tabs: Key bindings, Volume Bar, Cube, Cube Layout, Global OSC, General,
About with forum links.
* User defaults per tab, with cube sizes, positions and sources;
application defaults restorable at any time.
* Settings survive updates: config.user.ini in the Windows user profile;
application defaults are kept unchangeable in config.ini.
* Shortcut "userprofile" in the program folder leads to the settings in the user
profile.
* Window positions are remembered, can be switched off on the tab "General"
(for testing the defaults).

Installation
* Installation: ends the old version, sets up autostart if wanted;
old entries, also of TotalKeyMix, go to the Recycle Bin.
* Autostart selectable in the tray menu and on the tab "General".

Tools and tray
* OSC Monitor and Hex Dump: Pause/Start, Clear, Save, query TotalMix FX state
* OSC Command Tool for sending your own OSC commands to the main or DURec interface.
OSC Monitor and Hex Dump side by side. DURec polling can be hidden.
* OSC help (F1): all Global OSC addresses by area, examples, the commands of
TMKeyControl; a selection can be taken into the tool.
* Diagnostic windows open side by side without overlapping, as wide as needed.
* Window Info: title, class, process, position and size of the window under
the mouse. Reading off the position allows placement to the pixel.
* Tray menu: status line, setup, query, tools, install, autostart and profile folder,
