Topic: HDSP9632 Optical OUT question

Hello,

I want to connect my HDSP 9632 to an external DAC
via Optical. I find in the manual that
"The ADAT I/O can also be used as optical SPDIF I/O, if set up accordingly in the Settings dia-
log".
"The SPDIF output signal is constantly available at the phono plug. After selecting 'Optical' it is
also routed to the optical TOSLINK output".
In the Settings dialog I choose 'Optical' under SPDIF OUT section, but it
is not working. Is there something that I am missing?

Thanks in advance,

Dex

Please be more specific - what exactly isn't working?

Well, there is simply no sound coming out of my external DAC,
when I connect RME optical (ADAT) out with my DAC optical IN,
and select 'OPTICAL' in settings dialog (and there
_is_ sound through RME analog outputs, and DAC's optical is working as well..).

Any thoughts?

Are you sure there is a signal coming out of the card's SPDIF? Do you see it in the mixer's bottom row? What kind of DAC is this?

Re: HDSP9632 Optical OUT question

I checked the mixer - mixer shows AN1+AN2 working, but SPDIF bars (L/R) are dead. What might be the problem?
What is interesting, is that my DAC shows that SPDIF signal is coming to it (whenever I choose 'optical' in the settings menu of RME9632, the DAC's SPDIF led lights on). But there is no sound coming from the DAC. When I connect my RME DIGI 98/6 PST through optical to my DAC, there is no problem and everything is working. What might be the problem? The DAC is a VALAB NOS dac.

Thanks in advance for your help
