Topic: Zero Latency setup in Logic Pro X?

Hi there,

I've watched the videos for both the new and old versions of the software, and I think that I am still not quite getting it right. I would be very grateful if someone could walk me through, step by step, on this set-up. I've pretty well come to grips with my other routing requirements for the moment, so this is my 'last frontier' for my needs.

I also assume that I need 'software monitoring' turned off in Logic Audio prefs, am I correct? It is kind of difficult to lay down an electric guitar with a bit of distortion with this paradigm. Rudimentary amp sims would be a lovely addition to the software, imo.

You are right, disable software monitoring and use TotalMix instead. For amp sims re-enable software monitoring, there's no other way out of the box.

I have a Line6 UX2 here I sometimes use for that purpose. Instrument in into the Fireface, routed out to a physical output > into the UX2. UX2s outputs physically connected to the FF again, using the standalone version of Pod Farm.

Usually that's too clumsy for my taste and I just turn down latency (128 samples feels ok to me) and use software monitoring.

I've got my head around the routing now. It's so simple I feel embarrassed about asking. It would be nice to have a couple of basic amp sims to run through. Sometimes, reverb and echo are not enough. Great for vocals and acoustic instruments, though!
