Topic: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

We're using MIDI Remote 1.71 on a 2018 MBP running 10.14.3 and have noticed the XTC settings keep randomly changing e.g. gain on some channels, various channel parameters like AS:

Is the XTC faulty, or is this a bug in the software?  It looks like the XTC is behaving normally because the levels don't change in TotalMix even when the gain temporarily goes up to 65.

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

If you want to use Midi Remote, you have to deactivate the direct remote in Total Mix for the XTC somehow.
Total Mix FX > Options> Settings> Aux Devices
And manual page 26 - 28 for the XTC

UFX+, FireFace 802 FS, Digiface USB
12 Mic, M1610 pro, Micstasy
MacBookPro M1
Logic Pro X

Thanks, but it already says Device Type 'None'. Presumably the MIDI port in this menu doesn't matter because I'm using MIDI over MADI via MIDI Remote?

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

I'm not using MIDIRemote, but as long as you are not running TotalMix then it does not even matter what you configured in TotalMix. So just make sure TotalMix is not running (on doubt, right click on TM icon, and click "Quit").

You also have dedicated LEDs at the XTC to check whether the XTC is currently remote controlled (LEDs "CTRL I" and "CTRL O").

So after you stopped both TotalMIX and MIDIRemote, those two orange LEDs should be off.

Also check if any LED is flashing at the XTC or if you see something red on the TFT screen.

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

I'm still having problems with MIDI Remote settings going haywire on an XTC and Micstasy linked to a MADIface XT.

I noticed the flicking settings on the two preamps stops when I disconnect the ARC USB.

The XT is connected to a Mac Pro on a separate USB extender to the ARC.  Is there a clash of MIDI commands?

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

Use the ARC USB in SysEx mode, that will prevent any possible clash.

Thanks, will test when we use the system next week and report back but this sounds like the culprit.

Unfortunately this hasn't solved the problem.

Is there a conflict in MIDI ports/routing? What's the recommended setup for XT + Micstasy + XTC (both remote controlled)?

Or is the USB extender we're using?

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

So you activated the SysEx mode in TotalMix FX ARC USB settings?

What USB extender is that

Yes, I activated SysEx mode as recommended.

The USB extender is an Amazon own brand model.

I've had the same problem using a MBP with genuine adapters and CalDigit hub...

Re: MIDI Remote keeps flicking between settings

I still don't understand the setup. What you wrote last usually happens when the ARC USB is used with more than one unit (so TotalMix FX shows both XT and XTC?) and the same commands are active for them.
