Topic: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

Any substantial differences in these units as relates to conversion and I/O latency?

Re: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

M-32 Pro offers besides MADI also AVB.
Has a redundant power supply.
Uses newer converters from AKM AFAIR.

Re: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

Thank you. It is interesting that the older Blueface A/D converters are very hard to find on the aftermarket and are still being offered at retail for $4999.00. Although I will be interfacing with a MADI FX, I like the connectivity and manual configuration options on these. Guess I will educate myself on the newer, single rack space units. No disrespect intended but my first impression of them is that by comparison to the older Blueface units, the rear layout is overcrowded and the front is “toylike” with all of the pulsing colored buttons. There also appear to be some issues related to heat and cooling fan noise. Will dig deeper. Much appreciated.

Re: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

There was a firmware update months ago in terms of cooling fan noise.
The results were satisfactory for the user.

The pulsing colored buttons have a reason, you can see quicker where level issues are and
everybody can easily read from the front panel which channel or instrument this is.
I personally regard it as very practical and the unit got positive feedback, one example:

There are also other videos if I remember right.

Re: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

I have been watching the videos and reading the literature. As usual with RME, the product is well thought out and confidence is high that it is reliable and durable. It is capable of much more than I will ever need but that has been true if all of their hardware. Never a bad thing. I have enough of their products to stock a small store and every time I think I will sell some of it, I find a use for it. The ergonomics of the older Blueface M-32 are more suited to my way of working but that is because they are immediately familiar. I have 12 single rack ADI interfaces.

The most expensive unit, the M32-AD, is available for 3.400 Euro incl. VAT. Where did you see the $4.999 ?

I just noticed Thomann US but I have no account with them They have them at a very good price. I did not know they now had a presence in the US. Once the VAT and shipping are added, The M-32 would probably equal the 3400 Euro you mentioned so it is certainly an option.

I would prefer to deal with Sweetwater if possible. I have accounts there, know some of the employees and I like their support policies.

I also have an account at Vintage King and I would be happy to work with that company as well but they do not appear to have the Blueface units in stock.

Very best regards and thank you for the information.

USA prices and retailers are shown in reply above.

Unfortunately, it appears that RME will not allow Thomann to ship this interface to the United States.

Can this be resolved, possibly through Synthax?

Re: M-32 vs M-32 Pro.

The price of the M-32 AD hasn't changed since April 2014. I try to find out what's going on here, but during holidays that might take some time.
