Topic: Babyface pro with ADSI-8 DS MkIII vs octamic

Hey,

I’m looking for some advice. I want to expand my Babyface pro with an extra 8 channels. Mostly for line level instruments. I was looking at the ADSI-8 DS Mk III but I also notice that the Octamic is a bit cheaper. This surprised me because of the pre-amps etc that come with the octamic?

Can someone help me figure out the main pros and cons with each system?

I don’t really need the preamps as I’m mostly recording synths and samplers but they will come in useful. If the converters on the ADSI are superior I might save a little longer to get that.

The ADI-8 DS MKIII does not only have 8 flexible line inputs, but also 8 line outputs (DA-conversion). Plus a very useful digital patch tool for even greater flexibility. The OctaMic is centered on Mic input amplification and AD conversion.
