Topic: Babyface Pro FS preamp gain/level

I recorded my bass through the BFPFS for the first time, and the sound quality was amazing.  Very happy with that.  But I found a potential problem.

I plugged the bass into my amp (a Reiner Saturn V), and sent the post eq DI output from that to the mic input on the interface.  The amp DI does not have a level control, so the level can only be controlled with the gain.  The problem is that I have to leave the gain very low or the signal is too hot for the BFPFS.  I would like to crank up the gain because it has a very nice saturation, but it seems the BFPFS mic preamp can add gain but cannot attenuate it?  So I cannot use a high gain setting without going into the red on the preamp.

Am I missing a setting somewhere in the interface?  The preamps I've used before had a level or gain control that could attenuate a hot input signal.

Thanks!

Re: Babyface Pro FS preamp gain/level

You can activate PAD on the Mic input to take 11dB off the input level. See page 21 in the user manual:
