Topic: RME Fireface 400 - Short circuit

I connected a Roland SP 404 sampler to my Fireface 400 via  Fireface input 3 and 4 by using Roland's unbalanced line out and a cinch to jack cable.
Then I used the sampler and the sound was distorted.
I looked at the digital mixer While the distorted sound occurred and I saw that the volume level on Input 1 was changing(the green light appeared),  although no device was connected to input 1.
Is there a possibility that I caused a short circuit or any other damage to my interface?

PS: please give me no advices to fix distorted sound generally, unless the advices help to clarify the input 1 problem

Input 1 is not a problem. Open inputs have crosstalk, and most probably you even have a lot of (mic) gain active there. Set gain to 0 then you should not see the green LED anymore.

Thanks for reply

And now I have another question Mr. Carstens.

Should I better use the line inputs on the back to connect the sampler. It was weird becauase I realized that I made one channel out of the pre amped  3 and 4 in the front? Is there the possibility of any Damage?
