Topic: ADI-2 DAC fs RCA/XLR

I am using both XLR and RCA outputs to 2 separate systems.
The RCA output is going to an active speaker system.
The XLR output is to going to a headphone amp.
I am muting the active speakers when I want to listen to the XLR outputs to the headphone amp.

Is this the best practice?

Thanks

Re: ADI-2 DAC fs RCA/XLR

Nothing wrong with your approach.

XLR and RCA are fully decoupled and separated, no backward effect of any connected device on the other output.

So you can even power down the unused amp / active speaker without adverse effect.

This would NOT be advised when connected to the SAME output, as a powered down device causes distortion by nonlinear load.

Re: ADI-2 DAC fs RCA/XLR

Thanks,

I thought perhaps there was a way to switch in-between the 2 outputs through the dac itself .
Then I would have created a preset and then used to the remote as an output  switcher.

Re: ADI-2 DAC fs RCA/XLR

XLR and RCA are linked.

Maybe a remote / app controlled switched power connector for the active monitors is a solution.
Or simply a switched power strip.

Re: ADI-2 DAC fs RCA/XLR

Thanks again for the info.

I have a remote control for the active speakers left on 24/7.
I easily use the mute button and then listen through my headphone system.
