To prolong the life of my madifaces I want an adapter to insert the Express card into.
I know of the sonnet adapter to thunderbolt and am wondering if there is a similar piece to usb3 or usbC

USB-3 is not possible. USB-C is a connector type, not a format. If it embeds Thunderbolt then yes, else no.

So the sonnet adapter is the only one out there that works with a pc equipped with thunderbolt (usbc plug)?

No, there are other manufacturers as well that offer such extension chassis (like Netstor). But the Sonnet SE1 might be easier to get for you.
