Topic: Switching Basic mode to DAC changes SRC and Clock setting

Hi,

I have a clock set to Internal (not auto) and SRC to SPDIF in.

But every time I switch the mode to DAC, these two settings will change. (SRC to off, and Clock to AES)

I have AES/EBU connected as a loop for Digicheck NG.

Is this a normal behaviour? Is there a way to prevent this change?

Thank you.

Re: Switching Basic mode to DAC changes SRC and Clock setting

I think yes, it is normal behaviour.
You switch it to DAC mode and the device is following your order and try to keep working with any digital source available.

I suggest disconnect that loop cable and use Totalmix Loopback function for DigicheckNG and clock source shall be internal.

Thanks for the confirmation.

The ADI-2 Pro manual includes a detailed description of  the DAC mode, including this:

- Simple 2 channel stereo operation

- In this mode the source selection of Main Out 1/2 also defines the clock source of the unit

Therefore AES loopback won't work anyway. Better stay in multichannel normal mode.

@waedi: No TotalMix - no Loopback.

This simplicity is why I settled on DAC mode for home use.
One person listening to one source at a time, that’s it.

Studio use is another story…

Ah ! This ADI-2 have no Totalmix.
But how can he use DigicheckNG ?
There must be a RME interface for having Digicheck running and therefor a Totalmix must be there.
As always, how wrong am I ?

DIGICheck works as ASIO host and accesses the RME recording interface through the ASIO driver which is multi-client capable.

I give up. I believe it as it is. ASIO means Windows PC. They can use Digicheck for free. Nice for them.

In another thread I found the information that he uses MacOS, I thought it was Windows like in many other cases.

@waedi: ups .. I only told you this for information in the hope it would be useful, not to criticise you in any way /  in person.

Would be nice if more ppl would put some basic info about setup (OS and RME recording interface) into forum signature.
In some cases this would be a very helpful reminder, what the topic is all about...
