Built into the active monitor is a digital signal processor with digital equalizer.
It is better to familiarize yourself with the purpose of this before making a quick decision.
If the monitor has some specialties in its own D/A converter or the circuit before or behind it, then it might also make sense to lead the signal better digitally via AES to the active monitor.
In this case an ADI-2 DAC wouldn't make sense, because this model has no digital outputs.
An ADI-2 Pro FS R BE could make sense for these use cases (even if you decide that D/A conversion for the monitors should be done inside of the active monitor):
a) you want nice phones preamps by this
b) you want to use dynamic loudness for phones
c) you want to use dynamic loudness for active monitors connected through AES OUT (*)
(*) according to the ADI-2 Pro manual: The option Digital Out Source - Main Out (SETUP – Options – Device Mode / DSD) sends the processed signal Main Out 1/2 also to the digital outputs AES, SPDIF and ADAT, for example to connect active monitors having digital inputs.
A good AES splitter/converter is this one: https://www.thomann.de/de/mutec_mc_11_a … verter.htm
But as I said, pls 1st check the features of the KS Digital monitors whether it makes more sense to use AES or to let the ADI-2 Pro FS perform D/A conversion.
