Topic: Babyface - Hiss and Hum from Left Line Out

Hello,

I've had a Babyface for many years and it's operated flawlessly. In the last week it's started outputting a pretty high level of hiss and hum out of the Left Line Out.

It's independent of the volume level. Nothing is showing in TotalMix

It's definitely not the monitors, as when I swap left and right the noise follows. Nothing going into the inputs.

Could it be a fault in the unit itself or the breakout cable? Unsure how to diagnose and fix.

Used with MacOS 11.5.2. Driver 3.25 Firmware v225

When you swap the monitors and the noise follows then the monitor is noisy.
May you check that again ?
If the noise stays at the same output I would try a new breakout cable.

Also check the screw domes at the D-SUB socket, they might be loose. This can break ground contact.
