Topic: dropping one channel on some tracks

I am testing my newly bought RME ADI-2 DAC FS. It shows "C" next to the serial number (ESS dac chip inside).

I already downloaded and ran the software installations (firmware and driver) from the RME web site.

The DAC selectively (not for all tracks, only for some tracks) drops the right channel completely.

For example, it completely mutes the right channel of each of the harmonic distortion tracks ripped from Pierre Verany CD. Those tracks contain 0dB FS sinusoidal tones on both right and left channels.
The right channel is UFL on the RME DAC's display. There is no output signal on the audio output socket.

With the same computer (I tried both my mac mini and my Windows 10 laptop) and the same USB cable, other DACs (Focusrite, Topping) do not drop the right channel of the harmonic distortion tracks from Pierre Verany CD.

P.S.: I have this problem with "Mono Off."

That is very likely to work.

Anyway, as you suggested on my other post, I contacted the shop for a return for refund.

I still want RME's reply on this issue as I consider buying the same model again.

Check everything before you leave the shop when doing the next purchase.

Re: dropping one channel on some tracks

The problem might have been due to the M/S-Proc. I did not see this feature in any other hi-fi product.

Begs the question who turned that on...
